Relationships between the Watson Studio and IBM Knowledge Catalog services and Cloud Pak for Data as a Service
You can provision Watson Studio and IBM Knowledge Catalog as part of Cloud Pak for Data as a Service or individually. Regardless of how you provision your services, you get a common platform that underlies the core services. For example, you have the same functionality whether you provision Cloud Pak for Data as a Service with only the Watson Studio service, or you provision the Watson Studio service. However, depending on how you sign up for your services, you might not see the Cloud Pak for Data product brand.
The product brand that you see when you are logged in depends on how many services you created and whether you started with an individual service or with Cloud Pak for Data as a Service:
- If you provision only the Watson Studio and Watson Machine Learning services or the IBM Knowledge Catalog service, the product brand is the same as the service name. However, when you add other services from the service catalog, the product brand changes to Cloud Pak for Data.
- If you provision Cloud Pak for Data as a Service, the product brand is always Cloud Pak for Data, regardless of which services you include.
