Using Knowledge Accelerators
The Knowledge Accelerators may be customized for use in an organization.

Customizing content
Customization can include changing some of the existing Knowledge Accelerators artifacts, for example, changing the name of a term or category, changing the description, or adding additional new terms to the existing Knowledge Accelerators structures. This section describes a number of different considerations or options for making such customizations. As the circumstances of organizations differ, it is expected that different combinations of methods can be adopted by individual clients.
A fundamental assumption about the Knowledge Accelerators is that clients need to customize them to meet the specific needs of their organization.
- Tagging the changes
- Irrespective of the approaches taken, it is recommended that each customer agree a mechanism to indicate which of the various IBM Knowledge Accelerators artifacts are of relevance. The simplest approach is to devise a series of Watson Knowledge Catalog Tags so that each of the Knowledge Accelerators artifacts of interest is given a specific tag. A tag might indicate artifacts of interest or relevance to the organization overall or to indicate artifacts of relevance to different parts of the organization, or both.
- Using the Business Scopes
- The Knowledge Accelerators come with a rich set of pre-defined Business Scopes. These Business Scopes contain references to all of the terms that are pertinent to a particular Business topic or function. So if a Business Scope closely aligns with a topic that the organization needs to address, then it might be a good starting point for any customization: Perhaps by tagging all of the terms in that Business Scope as relevant to the needs of the organization.
