Create a data source connection in Data Virtualization using a Remote Agent

About this task

Create a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector connection from Data Virtualization or by importing an existing platform connection.

Procedure

  • To create a connection from Data Virtualization, complete the following steps.
    1. In Data Virtualization, navigate to the Data sources page and then select Add connection > New connection.
    2. Select the on-premises data source that you want your IBM Cloud Satellite Connector to connect to.
    3. Enter the following information:
      • Name of the connection
      • Hostname or IP address of the connection
      • Port number
      • Database name
      • Username
      • Password
    4. Optional: In Private connectivity, select IBM Cloud Satellite, and then select the name of your connector.
    5. Select Create.
Note: If you did not select IBM Cloud Satellite from the previous optional step, you might encounter an error telling you that IBM Cloud is unable to create a direct connection to the data source. For this error message, select Create connection anyway.
    6. From the Add collaborators and add the connection to a remote connector page, select the remote agent, and then select Add.

Your data source connection now appears in the Data sources page under the Table view.

  • To create a connection by importing an existing platform connection, complete the following steps.
    1. In the Data sources page, select Add connection > Existing platform connection > Continue.
    2. Select the data source that you want to add and then select Add.
    3. From the Add collaborators and add the connection to a remote connector page, select the Remote connector, and then select Add.

Your data source connection now appears in the Data sources page under the Table view.
