You can determine whether Data Virtualization users can view virtual objects that they
cannot access.
About this task
By default, Data Virtualization users can see column and table names only of virtual
objects that they can access. For example, if a user is not allowed to perform a
SELECT statement on a table, the table is not be listed when you perform the
LIST TABLES operation. However, you can give users a more comprehensive view
of the content by making existing virtual objects visible from the Virtualized
data page. Data access within those objects follows the Data Virtualization
authorizations and data protection
rules.
Procedure
To manage visibility of virtual objects, follow these steps.
- Click .
- Go to the Advanced options section.
- Enable the Restrict visibility option to prevent users from seeing
column and table names of virtual objects that they cannot access. This option is enabled by
default.
- Disable the Restrict visibility option
to allow users to see column and table names of virtual objects that they cannot access.
Additionally, when you clear the Restrict visibility setting, the
Virtualized data page becomes All virtualized
data.
