Configuring and using the Data Virtualization Remote Agent

Remote agents provide additional parallelism for accessing data sources, allowing for a greater number of data sources to be connected to Data Virtualization. Configure and start using the Remote Agent in Data Virtualization.

The Data Virtualization Remote Agent is a Java tool that you use to provide additional capabilities to Data Virtualization including:
  • Connecting to load balanced database servers.
  • Providing access to files which may reside on the server itself,
  • Improving performance as a result of additional parallelism and data locality.
The Remote Agent is deployed remotely from your Data Virtualization instance that runs either in Cloud Pak for Data on IBM Cloud or in a Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform environment.

To configure and to start using the Remote Agent in Data Virtualization, complete the following tasks:

  1. System requirements for configuring the Data Virtualization Remote Agent
  2. Generating the configuration for the Data Virtualization Remote Agent
  3. Deploying the Remote Agent:
  4. Starting the Remote Agent:
