Configuring the Watson Query Remote Agent

Remote agents provide additional parallelism for accessing data sources, allowing for a greater number of data sources to be connected to Watson Query. Configure and start using the Remote Agent in Watson Query.

The Watson Query Remote Agent is a Java tool that you use to provide additional capabilities to Watson Query including:
  • Connecting to load balanced database servers.
  • Providing access to files which may reside on the server itself,
  • Improving performance as a result of additional parallelism and data locality.
The Remote Agent is deployed remotely from your Watson Query instance that runs either in Cloud Pak for Data on IBM Cloud or in a Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform environment.
