Database details and connection credentials in Watson Query

To configure your local development environment and to connect applications and tools to your Watson Query instance, you need to know the database details and connection credentials.

Database details

You need the following database details to connect applications and tools to your database:

Hostname
The hostname of the server.
Port number
Used by the database manager for TCP/IP communication. Your service is provisioned with connections that use Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

You can get the IP address of your server by using the ping command or the nslookup command, specifying your hostname.

Database name
The Watson Query instance name, usually BLUDB.

Connection credentials

You can use three types of credentials:

IBMid
If you use IBM® Cloud, you use your IBMid to log in to IBM Cloud. Your IBMid can be used to manage users by accessing User Management in the web console. You do not use your IBMid to connect applications or tools to your Watson Query instance.
Watson Query instance credentials
These credentials are generated when you click New credential under Service credentials for the service in IBM Cloud.
IBMid-created users
These IBMid-created user IDs and passwords can be used to log directly into the web console URL and to connect to the Watson Query instance from applications or tools.
