Customizing the hostname in the Governance console URL for watsonx.governance as a Service on AWS

By default, instances have a system-generated hostname in the URL. You can change the hostname to create a different URL.

You can also transfer a custom hostname from one instance to another.

If you change the hostname, update the watsonx.governance integration to use the new hostname for Governance console.

Before you begin

You need the URL for managing your instance. You can get the URL from the IBM SaaS Console. Locate your instance and view the instance details. Copy the URL in the Instance URL field.

Changing the hostname of an instance

To do this task, you need be be a Subscription Admin or the owner of the instance.

To customize the hostname of an instance, do the following steps:

  1. Go to the URL for your instance to open the watsonx.governance Instance Management console.

  2. Click Environment.

  3. In the Custom hostname section, click the Edit icon.

  4. Type a name, and then click Save. Wait a few minutes for the change to take effect.

    The last character in the hostname must not be a minus sign or a period. {:note: .note} You can now launch Governance console by using the Custom hostname URL or the Fixed URL.

Transferring a hostname to another instance

To do this task, you need be be a Subscription Admin or the owner of the instance.

If you have multiple instances, you can transfer a custom hostname from one instance to another.

You can also provision a new instance without the need to give users a different URL.

To transfer a custom hostname from one instance to another, do the following steps:

  1. Go to the URL for your instance to open the watsonx.governance Instance Management console.
  2. Click Environment. The Transfer hostname section lists the custom hostnames of your other Governance console instances.
  3. Click a custom hostname, and then click Transfer.
  4. Click Transfer to confirm the change.

When users go to the URL with the custom hostname, they are now using the instance that you selected in step 3.

Sharing the Governance console URL

To do this task, you need be be a Subscription Viewer, Subscription Admin, or the owner of the instance.

You can share the Governance console URL with your user community.

To get the URL to share with users, do the following steps:

  1. Go to the URL for your instance to open the watsonx.governance Instance Management console.
  2. Click Environment.
  3. Do one of the following steps:
    • If you customized the hostname, copy the Custom hostname URL.
    • If you didn't customize the hostname, copy Fixed URL in Environment.
