Support for IBM Cloud Satellite in Cloud Pak for Data as a Service

With a Satellite Link connection in Cloud Pak for Data as a Service, you can securely connect to Satellite locations you have configured in a distributed cloud environment for your IBM Cloud account.

With IBM Cloud Satellite, you bring IBM Cloud to your own infrastructure environment by creating a Satellite location. You do not need IBM Cloud service endpoints for accessing IBM Cloud on a Satellite location. Instead, you configure a Satellite Link endpoint to access your infrastructure environment.

A Satellite location runs as a set of three hosts to define a location in the compute infrastructure in your on-premises data center or in another cloud provider. The location is a small instance of IBM Cloud. In Cloud Pak for Data as a Service, you set up a Satellite Link between your infrastructure and the IBM Cloud Satellite location to securely connect to your data source. For instructions on setting up a Satellite Link, see Securing connections.
