Running DataStage workloads in prebuilt Satellite locations
With DataStage Parallel Engine (PX) remote runtime as-a-service, you can run jobs using resources in both the IBM cloud and at prebuilt Satellite locations.
The DataStage PX compute and runtime processes are supported on prebuilt Satellite location containing a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the us-east-1
Region. IBM manages the VPC for the PX Engine on
AWS in the Satellite location. This enables you to integrate and transform data without moving it, thus increasing the speed of your DataStage flows. Your instance of DataStage must be located in Dallas to access a Satellite location. The
data plane (where data is processed) is located in the IBM-owned AWS account and data never leaves that location.
DataStage runtime as-a-service on Amazon Web Services is included in all service tiers (paid and unpaid) in the Dallas region.
For DataStage Satellite locations, job execution occurs in the Satellite location but the operational metadata for the job will be stored in your Cloud Object Storage on IBM cloud.
