As an IBM Cloud account owner or administrator, you can choose from these Watson Knowledge Catalog plans:

Lite

Try Watson Knowledge Catalog features for free before you buy the Standard or Enterprise Bundle plan.

Standard:

Pay for catalog assets and the compute usage for running Watson Knowledge Catalog processes and tools.

Enterprise Bundle:

Pay a discounted monthly fee for large amounts of catalog assets and compute usage. Import Knowledge Accelerators that contain curated glossaries with industry-specific vocabularies.

All Watson Knowledge Catalog plans have these features for catalogs:

• Indexing and storage for data, connections, models, notebooks, dashboards, and connected folder assets.
• AI powered search and recommendations.
• Rating and reviewing assets.
• Connectors to data sources.
• Metadata import from connections into a project or a catalog.
• Profiling of textual data in relational (first 5000 rows only) and unstructured data.
• Categories for organizing your governance artifacts and the users who can view and manage them.
• Data classes to classify relational data in columns.
• Policies that contain rules to protect data.
• Business terms that contains terms to describe data.
• Data protection rules that control access to data assets or mask data.
• Classifications that classify assets based on the level of sensitivity or confidentiality.
• Data classes that describe the type of data contained in data assets.
• Reference data sets that define values for specific types of columns.
• Governance rules that provide a natural-language description of the criteria that are used to determine whether data assets are compliant with business objectives.
• Basic workflow for governance artifacts that allows the author to publish the artifact without any review or approval steps.
• Data Privacy.
• Data quality scores in asset profiles to understand the quality of the whole assets and each column.
• Metadata enrichment in projects to profile data assets and analyze data quality on a large scale.

Some Watson Knowledge Catalog plans include these features:

• Custom relationships for governance artifacts.
• Administrative reports on assets, catalogs, projects, and governance artifacts.
• Knowledge Accelerators to import curated glossaries with industry-specific vocabularies.
• Predefined Business Terms in the Knowledge Accelerator Sample Personal Data category.
• Asset activities to view the history of the events performed on the asset.
• Encrypt IBM Cloud Object Storage with your own key.
• HIPAA readiness, if the service is provisioned in the IBM Cloud Dallas region.
• Backups, for purpose of disaster recovery only, for catalogs and project assets.

With the Standard plan, you pay monthly for the number of catalog assets and the compute usage consumed. Compute usage is measured in capacity unit hours (CUH). You consume CUH when you profile data assets, or run Watson Knowledge Catalog tools and jobs. You are charged for the highest number of assets that exist in your catalogs at any time during the month. Assets that are removed from catalogs continue to be counted until you delete them from the trash. See Deleting assets from the trash.

The Enterprise Bundle plan includes a set amount of monthly catalog assets and compute usage. You pay for more catalog assets and compute usage.

The Platform assets catalog is available without the Watson Knowledge Catalog service. However, with the Watson Knowledge Catalog service, you can include assets other than connections in the Platform assets catalog. The limits for assets other than connections in catalogs include those assets in the Platform assets catalog.

The following table shows limits and restrictions for features per plan. All other features are available without restriction in all plans.

Legacy plans

The legacy Standard, Professional, and Enterprise plans for Watson Knowledge Catalog are no longer available to provision. However, if you have a legacy plan you can keep it until May 2023.

To change a legacy plan to one of the new plans, follow the steps for Managing services.
