To get started with IBM watsonx.ai, you can use an IBM watsonx.ai demo account to access some popular generative AI models and chat with the models. The demo chat app includes limits on the total number of tokens and a limited trial period. To keep using the demo chat app without trial restrictions, you can link your demo account and your paid watsonx.ai account.

If you have a paid watsonx.ai account on IBM Cloud, you can link the IBM watsonx.ai demo account with your paid watsonx.ai account to remove the trial restrictions. After linking your accounts, the tokens you use in the chat app are billed to watsonx.ai Studio at the watsonx.ai rates. For details, see Billing details for generative AI assets.

To link your demo chat app and watsonx.ai accounts:

1. In the IBM watsonx.ai demo account, click your avatar and select Profile.
2. Go to the Account link page.
3. Enter your IBM Cloud API key or create a key if necessary.
4. Select a deployment space or create one if necessary.
