Description
Use Data Replication to integrate and synchronize data. Data Replication provides near-real-time data delivery with low impact to sources.
With Data Replication, you can:
- Improve business insight
- Move data in near real time to the environment where you perform analytics or event processing so you can quickly react to changes and critical business events.
- Ensure business continuity
- Synchronize data stores to support continuous operations in the event of planned and unplanned outages.
Data Replication is part of Cloud Pak for Data as a Service and provides the data replication capabilities of the data fabric architecture.
To set up Data Replication, you create a shared project and then define your connections to sources and targets. Build replication mappings by selecting the schemas and tables that you want to replicate.
When the mappings are done, you can start replicating data. The data is first synchronized between the source and target data store and then continuously updated automatically whenever changes are detected to the source tables. The changes are delivered in near-real-time to the target data store. Data Replication will run continuously unless you pause or stop it.
You can replicate data between a set of supported source and target data stores. For details, see Supported Data Replication connections.
