Integrating IBM watsonx.governance with Governance console

The Governance console is not automatically provisioned when you provision watsonx.governance. To use the Governance console, provision an instance of OpenPages and integrate it with an instance of watsonx.governance.

Required services
Required access policies
  • Administrator level access to the watsonx.governance instance.
  • Administrator and OpenPages User level access to the OpenPages instance.

    The account owner or an administrator can set these access policies. For more information, see What are IAM policies and who can assign them?

About this task

To integrate Governance console in IBM watsonx with watsonx.governance, follow these steps:
  1. Get the API key and fixed URL.
  2. Assign the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile.
  3. Connect watsonx.governance to OpenPages.

Getting the API key and fixed URL

You need an API key to connect the OpenPages service with the watsonx.governance service. Also, get the fixed URL that you need to set up watsonx.governance.

Procedure

  1. To create an API key to connect the OpenPages service with watsonx.governance, follow these steps:
    1. In IBM Cloud, go to Manage > Access (IAM) > API keys.
    2. Create an API key.
    3. Copy the API key. You need it later.
      Click Download to download the API key for future use.
    4. Close the dialog box.
  2. To connect the OpenPages service with your watsonx.governance service and get the OpenPages fixed URL, follow these steps:
    1. Navigate to your OpenPages instance.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. In the watsonx.governance integration section, enter the API key that you copied in step 1.c and click Test connection.
      The Save button is enabled when the connection is successful.
    4. Click Save.
    5. Click Environment.
    6. In the Fixed URL section, click Copy Copy icon to save the URL for later.

Assigning the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile

In OpenPages, the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile must be on your list of allowed user profiles and the profile must be your current profile.

Procedure

  1. Launch OpenPages.
  2. Click Administration menu > Users and Security > Users and select your username.
  3. In Allowed user profiles, select watsonx.governance MRG Master profile.
  4. Select watsonx.governance MRG Master from the Current profile list.
  5. Click Save. The changes take effect immediately.

Connecting watsonx.governance to OpenPages

To connect watsonx.governance to OpenPages, use the fixed URL to your OpenPages instance and your API key.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to your watsonx.governance instance and launch watsonx.governance.
  2. Click Navigation Menu Navigation Menu icon and AI Governance > AI use cases.
  3. If you don't already have an inventory, create one:
    1. Click Manage settings Manage settings icon, and click Inventories.
    2. Click New inventory.
    3. Enter a Name for the inventory.
    4. Optional: Enable Add collaborators after creation.
    5. Select an Object storage instance and click Create.
    The process of creating your inventory might take a few minutes. If the Set collaborators page is displayed, you can click the Add collaborators button to add more collaborators, or close the page.
  4. On the Manage page, click General.
    A message on the page might indicate that a Platform assets catalog is required.
    1. In the message, click Get started.
    2. On the New catalog page, the name and description of the catalog are already entered for you. Click Create.
  5. On the Manage page, enable Governance console (IBM OpenPages) integration and click Setup.
    1. Enter the URL that you copied in step 3 of Getting the API key and fixed URL and the API key that you copied in step 4 of Getting the API key and fixed URL.
    2. Select an inventory.

      When users create use cases, they are created in this inventory.

      Your name appears automatically as the Default owner, but you can select a different user. New use cases are owned by the Default owner.

    3. Click Apply.
      Governance console (IBM OpenPages) integration is enabled.
  6. Click Go to IBM OpenPages to go to the Governance console.
