Nearest Neighbor Analysis is a method for classifying or predicting instances or records based on their similarity to other instances, or for simply identifying similar instances. In machine learning, it was developed as a way to recognize patterns of data without requiring an exact match to any stored patterns or instances. Similar instances are near each other and dissimilar instances are distant from each other. Thus, the distance between two instances is a measure of their dissimilarity.
