Setting up a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector connection for a Remote Agent

With IBM Cloud Satellite Connectors, you can securely connect to your on-premises data sources. To establish a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector connection, complete the following steps to create a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector in IBM Cloud, set up an IBM Cloud Satellite agent, and then create a new endpoint.

To create a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector connection, you need the Administrator platform role for IBM Cloud Satellite.

To connect an agent to an existing connector, you need the Viewer platform role for IBM Cloud Satellite.

Procedure

1. In IBM Cloud, select Satellite > Connectors then select your region.
2. Select Create Connector, and then name the connector.
3. Select Create to create a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector.
4. Create a IBM Cloud Satellite agent by completing the steps in Running a Connector agent.
5. Create a new endpoint by completing the following steps:
   1. Navigate to the IBM Cloud Satellite connector.
   2. Select the User endpoints tab.
   3. Select Create endpoint.
   4. In Destination resource, select Agent location.
   5. Select Next.
   6. In Resource details, specify the following information:
      • Endpoint name: This is the name of the endpoint.
      • Destination FQDN or IP: This is the cluster hostname or IP of where you are going to set up the remote agent.
      • Destination port: This is used by the remote agent for generating the remote agent configuration.
   7. Select Next.
   8. In Protocol, select Protocol TCP.
   9. Select Next.
   10. Optional: In Access control list, enter your Access Control List (ACL) details.
   11. In Connection settings, set the Inactivity timeout to 600.
   12. Select Create endpoint to create the endpoint.

       Your new endpoint can be found in the User endpoints tab.
