Configuring and using the Data Virtualization Remote Agent

Using a Remote Agent, you can connect to and get information from multiple data sources at the same time. Configure and start using the Remote Agent in Data Virtualization

The Data Virtualization Remote Agent is a Java tool that you use to provide the following capabilities to Data Virtualization:
  • Connecting to load balanced database servers.
  • Providing access to local files on the server where they are installed.
  • Improving performance as a result of additional parallelism and data locality.
The Remote Agent is deployed remotely from your Data Virtualization instance that runs either in Cloud Pak for Data on IBM Cloud or in a Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform environment.

To configure and to start using the Remote Agent in Data Virtualization, complete the following tasks:

  1. System requirements for configuring the Data Virtualization Remote Agent
  2. Setting up a IBM Cloud Satellite Connector connection
  3. Generating the configuration for the Data Virtualization Remote Agent
  4. Deploying the Remote Agent:
  5. Starting the Remote Agent:
  6. Create a data source connection in Data Virtualization using a Remote Agent
