Scenarios in a Decision Optimization experiment

You can easily create and manage different scenarios in a Decision Optimization experiment.

The same model can be solved with different data sets. The same data set can be used to solve different models. Each scenario defines a combination of a model with a set of data. Then, when the model is solved, the scenario also contains its solution.

You can use the Scenario pane in the Prepare data, Build model, Explore solution, or Visualization views, to see information about the current scenario and navigate from one scenario to another. You can also create new scenarios from the scenario pane.

You can compare all scenarios at a glance, or create new ones, in the Overview.

When you create a new Decision Optimization experiment, a scenario is automatically created along with the model. When you solve a model, its scenario uses the default run environment that was created for that model type. You can view this default on the Overview Information pane , on the Environment tab. You can switch scenarios while you are running a model and, in either the scenario pane or Overview, see which scenarios are running or are queued.
